Bronze or coated brass. 28 x 12,5 x 3,5 cm each
Lovely pair of holy water fonts from the early Renaissance-era. Every typical decorative style of the time is at full force in these items.
In the central parts, Raffaello paintings are replicated via bas-relief: the Marriage of the Virgin can be recognized. In the cusp we may see a bathed Christ.
Every component is framed in a triumphal arc-style structure, Roman in taste. Also worth to notice the decorative candelabra situated in the side lesene.
Overall we are presented with two rather peculiar items, both excellent in quality, decorative richness and coating. Their value can be compared to ancient pieces, despite being made in the 1800s.
