Olivier Leflaive started the negociant project while he was still involved in the management of the family's estate
Domaine Leflaive. The experience gained during his dozen years with the family allowed him to significantly develop his own project. After parting ways with Domaine Leflavie, Olivier fully focused on developing his own offerings.
He works alongside his younger brother Patrick and Frank Grux, who is the winemaker. He has been in this role since 1988, after leaving another famous Burgundy producer, Domaine Roulot. Grux buys only the fruit, never the juice, fermented or not.
Les Pucelles is always one of the producer's strongest labels, and the 2019 vintage further confirms this. Pucelles is, after all, one of the best habitats in Puligny, which, combined with the winemaker's talent, cannot produce poor results.
It smells like an orchard in summer with aromas of apples, pears and flowers. On the palate, there's a lot of peach, along with nuts and minerality.
