Barolo, Piedmont
Comments
Giacomo Conterno is one of Barolo's most important figures. Known for his elegant wines that are endowed with extraordinary aging potential, even by Barolo standards. The estate was founded in 1908 and stood at the front of the traditionalists during the famous Barolo dispute. The producer has always focused on the classics, and the famous Monfortino Riserva label was the strongest proof of this.
The character of the wines here is created by long maceration and maturation in huge barrels. The wines are full-bodied, extremely rich and complex, built to mature for a long time and reach their full class only after decades of aging. Strong structure, aromatic intensity and rich body are the producer's hallmarks.
