"I am for wine only a companion who does not improve nature, but only watches the whole process with fascination."
This is what Kamil Barczentewicz says about himself. Opinions in the industry, however, are that his talent and conscientious preparation for working with the vines go far beyond simply watching the process.
Kamil upholds the claim that wine is made on the vine and that nature itself is able to manage the processes that take place in it. Without interfering with them, Kamil Barczentewicz tries to point these processes in the right direction with a focus on natural cultivation and non-interventionist winemaking.
Sunny southern slopes, limestone soils and proximity to the Vistula River create perfect conditions for grape growing. Kamil Barczentewicz focuses on vitis vinifera and works with pinot noir, pinot blanc, blaufrankisch, gewurztraminer and riesling vines. In his work, he uses the knowledge he gained at the Bordeaux oenological school and the experience he gathered while working with winemakers from different countries around the world.
Pinot noir is the most important grape in the winery's offerings. Clones of German, Austrian and French varieties of this grape grow here, and the skillful blending of these varieties produces complex and beautifully balanced wines.
The selection of Chardonnay Barrique, Riesling Late Harvest and Blaufrankisch DObre Modre wines shows the nature of the 2020 vintage premiere for these varieties and the style of the site in Dobre from the perspective of the three varietals. In the chardonnay you'll find Burgundian inspiration, the riesling delights in how it evolves and makes you wonder if it's worth waiting a few years before opening it, and the blaufrankisch is a juicy, crisp interpretation of the varietal, with both dark forest fruits and herbs and mineral notes finding a place for themselves.
