Maurice Glayre was one of the closest people in the inner circle of Poland’s last king. These letters constitute an invaluable source of information, as they reveal the monarch’s unofficial, candid reflections, his emotions, and his political motivations in the face of the successive partitions of the country and the dramatic events of that era.
The letters were edited and published by the Swiss historian Eugène Mottaz.
Jadwiga Baranowska translated the letters from French into Polish.
The book was printed in Warsaw at the A. T. Jezierski printing house as part of the “Biblioteka Dzieł Wyborowych” series.
