Nezak Huns, AR Drachm ND (c. AD 550-600) – Anonymous 'Nezak Malka'
3.23g. 31mm. AU/UNC. A superb exemplar, featuring finely detailed relief, a crisp strike, and remnants of original luster — a rare level of preservation for this special and visually striking type. Obv.: King's bust to right, wearing a winged crown with bull's head; Pahlavi legend. Rev.: Fire altar between two attendants with wheel symbols either side of flames. Mitchiner ACW 1507-1509; Göbl Hunnen type 198; Vondrovec ā-group. Perhaps minted by a local dynasty in the Kabul Valley. The Nezak Shahi kingdom was a polity of Hunnic/Hephthalite origin, located in the Kabul Valley and dating from the late fifth to the mid-seventh century AD. The history of this kingdom is primarily evidenced through its coinage.
