August III of Saxony, minted in 1754 EC, Leipzig – very nice
On the obverse, a crowned bust with a broad head in right-facing profile.
On the reverse, a crowned coat-of-arms shield. Below the shield, the denomination “18” and the initials “E–C” (Ernest Dietrich Croll – master of the Leipzig Mint).
A narrow bust with ribbed shoulder straps, a cross-section of a sleeve, and a smooth ribbon of the Order of the Golden Fleece.
The crown fields on the obverse and reverse are smooth, with pendants in the central fields.
Oval clasp brooch with a pearl border.
Reverse variant with seven leaves.
Punctuation variant with a period at the end of the rim inscription on the obverse and no period after the date.
Condition: 2/2+
Minor flaws in the metal and striking, but the coin is beautifully preserved. Good luster and plenty of mint mirror finish. A beautiful piece.
