Henryk Hermanowicz took his first photographs in 1927, and in 1930 he became a student of Jan Bułhak. In 1937, he moved to Krzemieniec and began working in the photography studio of the Krzemieniec High School, run by Stanisław Sheybal. From 1939 to 1943, he worked in a photography studio in Krzemieniec. In 1945, he moved to Kraków and found employment at Józef Rosner’s photography studio. Between 1945 and 1946, he began collaborating with *Przekrój* and enrolled at the Kraków Film Institute. From 1950 onward, he settled permanently in Kraków, though he continued to organize artistic trips. In 1948–49, he documented the landscapes and monuments of the Recovered Territories. In 1955, he traveled with Władysław Broniewski along the banks of the Vistula River. In the following years, he undertook several artistic journeys, including to Italy (1957), Africa (1962), and Yugoslavia (1970). From 1958, he served as chairman of the ZPAF Artistic Committee, and in 1968 he was awarded the title of honorary member of the ZPAF.
