Priekšmeta apraksts

Color serigraphy, extra heavy veline paper 60 x 60 cm, numbered in pencil l.d. 141/2400, signed in composition l.g. "Andy Warhol", on the back publisher's dark blue stamp "CMOA" (Carnegie Museum of Art - Pittsburgh,Pennsylvania) and hologram "verification of authenticity".

Andy Warhol's "Cowboys and Indians" series, created in 1986, is one of his last series in which the artist explores American motifs and icons. It consists of 10 serigraphs that depict both famous historical figures and stereotypical depictions of the Wild West.

Warhol's "Cowboys and Indians" series combines historical and legendary figures with cultural motifs that have shaped American identity. The works feature such figures as: "Geronimo**" - the famous Apache chief who fought for the rights of his people, "Buffalo Bill" - an icon of the American Wild West, known for organizing shows depicting life on the frontier, "Sitting Bull**" - a Sioux chief known for his participation in the Battle of Little Bighorn, and legendary heroes of westerns, symbols of the American spirit.

The "Cowboys and Indians" series retains Warhol's characteristic style - using intense, contrasting colors and screen-printing technique. The artist combines photographs and traditional paintings with graphic elements, giving them a modern look. Warhol often uses the effect of overlapping colors, which adds dynamics and a sense of movement to the works.

Warhol grew up in the era of Western celebrities such as the Lone Ranger, Roy Rogers, Hopalong Cassidy and John Wayne. In his youth, he was fascinated by the romance of the West created by movies; as an adult, he remained intrigued by the genre, and the Western aesthetic influenced much of his artwork. The series is an important part of Warhol's oeuvre, as it demonstrates his ability to combine cultural icons with a critical view of American history and identity. The works in "Cowboys and Indians" are valued not only for their aesthetics, but also for their deeper message, which prompts reflection on the myths and realities of the American Wild West. Works from the "Cowboys and Indians" series have been exhibited in many prestigious galleries and museums around the world, attracting the attention of critics and the public alike. The collections are held in many private and public collections, forming an important part of Andy Warhol's artistic legacy.
