The work comes from a series of early, unpublished monotypes by Henryk Plóciennik, 1961, made on secondary substrates - mainly on the backs of posters and news materials of the era.
The works date from the period prior to the artist's admission to the Association of Polish Artists (1962) and are associated with the earliest stage of his exhibition activities. It is likely that they were part of an exhibition prior to his admission to the ZPAP.
These works are an important document of the formation of an individual artistic attitude, which in the following decades earned Płóciennik the position of one of the most outstanding Polish graphic artists.
Painter, graphic artist and draughtsman, one of the most outstanding figures in Polish contemporary art. He developed a distinctive style combining elegance of form and subtle colors. He created in techniques, monotype, autocynography, drawing of oil works as well as watercolor. Winner of more than forty awards, the artist is represented in the collections of the National Museum in Warsaw, Krakow, Lodz, Poznan and Gdansk, as well as in museums and collections abroad, including Tokyo, Berlin and London.
