Biography
In 1972, she graduated from the Poznań State Academy of Fine Arts (PWSSP) in Tadeusz Brzozowski’s studio. She is currently a professor at that institution. From 1975 to 1992, she ran the ON Gallery in Poznań, with which she continues to collaborate today. She creates prints, paintings, installations, video installations, video performances, and objects. She groups her works into series, including: Relative Features of Similarity I (1979–90; objects, prints, installations); Dreams (1990–94; installations, video installations, prints); Floating (1994–97; objects, video-objects, and an installation); Life is a Story (since 2002; video installation). She has had numerous solo exhibitions in Poland and abroad, including in Warsaw, Wrocław, Sopot, Hanover, Lund, Rennes, and Edmonton. The artist has also shown her work in group exhibitions: the São Paulo Biennial (twice), as well as in Vienna, Washington, D.C., Dresden, Amsterdam, Barcelona, and New York. Her works are included in many international collections around the world. She is the recipient of numerous awards and honors.
