Konrad Srzednicki (Wysokie Mazowieckie, November 1, 1894 - Cracow, April 8, 1993) studied at the private Konrad Krzyżanowski School of Painting and Drawing (1921-1924), then at the School of Fine Arts in Warsaw (1924-1930, diploma 1936). In 1928-1939 he worked in the Department of Artistic Graphics at his alma mater. In 1939 he was appointed Professor of Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, where - except for the years of World War II - he worked until 1965. At this university he served as head of the Department of Graphic Arts (1945-1950), rector (1951-1952), and dean of the Faculty of Graphic Arts (1961-1964). He was a member of the "Ryt" Association (1929-1939) and the "9 Graphic Artists" group (1952-1960). In 1965 he became an honorary member of the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. He was also a member of the Organizing Committee of the International Biennial of Printmaking in Cracow, and its general secretary from 1966-1970. He won numerous awards, including at the International Exhibition "Art and Technique", Paris 1937, at the World Graphics Exhibition, London 1962, at the 1st International Graphics Biennale, Krakow 1966, gold medal at the 3rd International Fine Arts Salon, Victoria 1968 (Brazil). He was engaged in painting and printmaking (lithography, metal techniques, rarely woodcut). His compositions, mainly in metal techniques, were based on excellent technique. The artist liked to use large formats and color. The figurative scenes are set in a de-realized idyllic world, and often allude to Mediterranean myths and the cultural heritage of the ancient world.
