In this series, Maryan (Pincas Burstein) plays a Golem wounded by history. In lithograph No. 1, the artist has given the creature frightened facial features and a tearful look; his half-open mouth is unable to scream. His Golem appears petrified, as if he has returned to his original inertia, frozen in his impotence. The Star of David he wears identifies him with the Jewish community, forever marked by war.
