Xiaga bałwochwalcza - a series of prints executed by Bruno Schulz using the cliché-verre technique, created in 1920-1922. Cliché-verre is a very rare creative method that came from France, in Poland it was almost unknown. Within the framework of The Idol Song, Schulz developed more than 20 drawings, which he combined into portfolios. He created dozens of such portfolios, although exactly how many is unknown. Barely a few have survived to this day, and each contains a maximum of 20 works. The main theme of the engravings from the collection is the idolatrous homage that a man - an inferior, subordinate being - pays to a woman - a superior, commanding being. The central figure of the works is a woman (or women): confident, haughty, yet beautiful and inaccessible like a deity. The surviving portfolios of The Idolatrous Xiega (there are only a few) are in the collections of, among others, the Jagiellonian Library in Krakow and the Adam Mickiewicz Museum of Literature in Warsaw, as well as in private collections in Poland and abroad. Condition b. good.
