Painter, graphic artist, he was also engaged in artistic blacksmithing and stained glass. He studied at the School of Decorative Arts in Cracow and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. From 1934 he was a lecturer at the State Institute of Fine Arts, and in 1950 he became a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, where he headed the Department of Book Graphics. He was inspired by folk art and Cracow folklore.
