PRACHE Anne - Lumières de Chartres. Photographies de Eustachy Kossakowski. [Paris] 1989. by Jean-Claude Lattès. folio, pp. 259, [2]. Original fawn, wraps, card. case.
Slight crease to top edge of spine of wrapper, otherwise very good condition. Bookstore sticker on case damaged. Editorially impressive album of color photographs by Eustachy Kossakowski (1925-2001), an outstanding Polish photographer living in France since 1970. "Lights of Chartres is one of the most important series in Eustachy Kossakowski's oeuvre and, unique with him, a departure from black-and-white photography in favor of color. The artist documents the light reflections on the walls of the medieval Chartres Cathedral. The impressive album of Chartres photographs, published by Jean-Claude Lattes in 1989, was named the most beautiful French book of the decade in a poll by Lire magazine. The series made Eustachy Kossakowski enter the history of French photography" (support.artmuseum.pl).
