| A bilingual album by Rafal Olbinski. The publication contains 20 works of the artist and as many stories created from the reversal of the normal order in the work of the illustrator. This is because he created the image first. The stories are an attempt of his personal, not necessarily the only interpretation of the paintings, which were generally created much earlier. While painting them, the artist did not think about any later literary adaptations.His intention was not to faithfully translate the plastic vision into words. He treated the picture only as a pretext to tell an interesting story. To describe what one sees is easy; it is more difficult to create a drama from this description, to enclose it in brackets of beginning and end, to awaken the intellect and heart. And this the artist has succeeded perfectly. The illustrative material comes from the painter's private archive, but also from foreign galleries and museums. |
