"The impression made by this work and its readership were extraordinary. It was read with interest and sometimes outright delight by both scholarly people and the widest circles of the less sophisticated public. Szajnocha's popularity in the field of history resembled that of Henryk Sienkiewicz in the field of literature." Source: wikipedia.org.
