A futuristic vision of an astronaut cat that combines science fiction, glamour and emotion in one painting. The painting is part of the project Future Cats.
Space Cat (2024) is a 50×70 cm oil painting on canvas that combines figurativeness with science fiction elements. The artist depicts an anthropomorphic cat dressed in a futuristic spacesuit, with intense green eyes contrasting with the cool range of blues and silvery tones of the armor. Attention is drawn to the orange light accents, which give the work a three-dimensional and dynamic feel. The painting combines humor, charm and reflection on the place of animals and technology in the future. It is an imaginative yet lyrical vision of the future, in which even cats seem to have a role in a space odyssey. The work attracts both contemporary art lovers and pop culture enthusiasts, offering a multi-layered tale of identity, courage and interspecies adventure.
Agnieszka Janik (born 1972) - a cultural studies major by education, an amateur painter by passion. She works mainly in oil technique, although she also reaches for acrylics. Her work focuses primarily on landscapes - realistic in form, but characterized by expression, intense colors and play of light. She also paints paintings inspired by anthropological and cultural symbols. She is the author of the Future Cats and Counterculture Portraits projects, focusing on the anthropomorphization of animals, primarily cats.
She draws inspiration from nature - long walks in the woods, by lakes or hiking in the mountains. She paints both well-known places and imagined landscapes - carried in memory or born of dreams. Her paintings also feature motifs of transience and cultural symbols, which give the works a deeper, reflective dimension.
She has been perfecting her craft during Masterclasses under the guidance of Igor Sakhrov and Viktor Yushkevich. She has participated in several local group exhibitions, and her works are in private collections in Poland and abroad.
