Biography
Originally from Pomerania, the artist graduated with honors from the Art program at Stratford Career Institute during her stay in the U.S. She honed her skills as a member of the Long Island Art League. Upon returning to Poland, she opened the Rumska Painting Studio and is a founding member and secretary of the “Pasjonat” Artists’ Association. She is a co-author of the projects “Artists for Education” and “Rumski Open-Air Painting Workshop.” Her body of work includes numerous group and solo exhibitions, as well as participation in open-air painting workshops in Poland and abroad (Italy, Jordan, Cyprus, Kazakhstan). Jola Kitowska is captivated by the world of the African savanna. After a trip to Africa, she began painting her “Kenyan” series, largely based on the silhouettes of animals and people from that distant continent. New forms of expression and elements of surrealism emerged, and her artistic explorations also extended to the exotic natural landscapes of other countries she visited. Her most important series include: “Kenya—Returns,” “From the Life of a Giraffe,” and “Life on the Savannah.”
