Oil, canvas, 55 x 46 cm, signed J. Sienicki 2000.
Studied at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts under A. Nacht-Samborski, for many years he was his assistant and then professor at his alma mater. He made his debut at the exhibition "Against War, Against Fascism" at the Warsaw Arsenal in 1955. He practiced painting in a limited palette of colors, grays, muted colors. He strived for maximum synthesis of the message. He drew his subjects from nature - a single plant, a landscape from his closest surroundings - such as the interior of his studio or apartment. Using painterly means sparingly, he created paintings with a great richness of pictorial matter. Winner of the C. K. Norwid Art Criticism Award in 1975, the independent J. Cybis Award in 1983 and the New York Prize of the A. Jurzykowski Foundation in 1993.
