Biography
French metalwork artist associated with Lyon. After learning blacksmithing, he trained at the prestigious Paris studios of Berger Nesme and Cardeilhac, working with Kéco Zambon, among others. In 1920, he returned to Lyon, where he opened his own workshop. Initially he created objects inlaid with copper and silver, but soon became famous for his original experiments with patinas, which became his trademark.
The period of Linossier's greatest artistic activity was between 1924 and 1932. His works, combining geometric and floral motifs with polychrome patinas in shades of red and black, won praise from collectors and critics. The artist presented them at numerous exhibitions and collaborated with renowned designers, including Ruhlmann and Sornay. After 1930, he also developed his sculptural activities. World War II interrupted his intense artistic activity. He died in 1953, leaving an artistic output distinguished by his masterful technique and unique style.
