Signed, dated and described on the back: L. Tarasewicz 2017 / Acrylic on canvas / 50 x 50.
Scion painter working on the verge of abstraction. He drew his painterly vision of the world from his perception of nature, especially landscape. He often introduced simplified signs from nature into his paintings: soil furrows, trunks, forest nurseries, birds. Currently, the artist operates with purely painterly values; color, light, matter, moving towards introducing his painting into real space, arranging interiors and bringing the viewer into the painting, which has become elements of the architecture of galleries and museums. An example of such a creative strategy was Leon Tarasewicz's exhibition at the Center for Contemporary Art in Warsaw in 2003, which took the form of a huge painting filling the interiors of the gallery rooms with its matter. The artist has also realized numerous works in the space of urban and public architecture. Winner of the Jan Cybis Award in 1998, he was born in 1957 in Walily, Bialystok . Studied with Tadeusz Dominik in 1979-1984 at the Faculty of Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Graduated with honors. Led a guest studio at Painting for many years. Currently working at the Faculty of Media Art. Full professor.
