Born in Estonia. At the age of two, he moved with his family to Vilnius, where he completed his first year of studies at Vilniaus Valst Dailes Institutas in 1945, and then left for Toruń. Together with a group of professors at Stefan Batory University in Vilnius, he was involved in reactivating artistic life in Torun, helped establish the Faculty of Fine Arts at Nicolaus Copernicus University, and at the same time began his second year of studies in painting. During his studies, he was active in the Artists' Cooperative "Rzut" in Torun, for which he constructed a paint grinding machine. He completed his studies with a diploma in 1950 in the studio of Prof. Tymon Niesiolowski. The same year resulted in Waclaw Jankowski's admission to the Association of Polish Artists and Designers and his involvement in art education in Torun schools. In subsequent years, he worked as an artistic director and decorator of the "Enchanted World" theater and as an instructor of the art center at the District House of Culture in Aleksandrów Kujawski. In 1958-1978 he was a member of the "Torun Group". In 1961-1967 he made artistic trips to France, Italy, Germany, the Czech Republic, Turkey, Russia, Hungary and Ukraine, among others. Since 1968 he has been a member of the Interior Design Section of the Union of Polish Artists and Designers and an expert of the Ministry of Culture and Art. Since 1969, he has lived in Warsaw. His works were presented at many individual and collective exhibitions at home and abroad, including Germany, France, Russia and England. He was awarded several times by the Minister of Culture and Art for his artistic activity.
