Cord of the pattern 1845/1882, used by senior officers of the French army between 1882 and 1918. The blade is straight, one-sided ground with a central point, made of polished steel. The hilt is brass with a richly decorated shield and basket with embossed floral motifs. The handle has a black surface with spiral wiring for a better grip. The head is onion-shaped with a decorative end. The scabbard is metal, chrome-plated, equipped with one suspension ring for wearing on a belt. Minor traces of wear and corrosion are visible on the surface, especially in the area of the mouth and end of the scabbard.
