The form of the saber of the 1917 model was determined by the Regulations and Instructions, Uniforms of the Polish Army,issued by the Military Department of the Provisional Council of State . They concerned, formed under the protectorate of Germany, the Polish Armed Forces. The regulations stipulated that white metal or oxidized sabers with Polish throats would be worn .
