Agata Idzikowska is a painter specializing in pastel technique.
She graduated from the Six-Year School of Fine Arts in Warsaw and from a two-year study of scenographic techniques.
She paints from the need of her heart, but also because she wants to share beauty through art. She knows that both the creative process and watching paintings created with passion, has a deep aesthetic value, but also emotional and therapeutic. It also brings with it a feeling of harmony, sensitizes and positively influences one's mood, in addition to decorating the interior.
Her favorite artistic medium is pastel. Although the artist has previously created in various techniques, pastel has stolen her heart - it can be said that she fell in love with pastel paintings at first sight.
Although it is a difficult drawing and painting technique that requires a lot of skill, she specialized in it to be able to fully exploit the potential of this unusual and niche artistic medium.
Her desire is that more people can learn about the pastel technique and become enthralled with it as well.
Many factors contribute to the uniqueness of this medium:
-the awe-inspiring look of pastel paintings - the subtle, delicate almost velvety texture of the paintings, which are created on a specialized archival substrate called sand papers with different levels of granularity. This gives the opportunity to apply multiple layers that saturate the image with color and build depth.
-Borderline technique- allows to achieve both drawing and painting effects, depending on the artist's vision. Delicate glimpses of color on paper permeate each other to create unique optical impressions.
-Directness of expression - the artist holds the pastel in his hand, and since he doesn't use a brush/spatula this gives great possibilities for expression using only his hand.
-Permanence - pastel sticks consist of pure pigment and a minimal amount of binder. As a result, they can survive for hundreds of years in an unchanged form without maintenance, unlike acrylic or oil paintings which change color/ yellow or crack over time.
What inspires the artist is above all the beauty of the surrounding world, which is why she is convinced that the source of her inspiration will never run out. Landscape, flowers, still life are her favorite subjects. Impressionism is very close to her. She is fascinated by color and light and the relationship between them, but also by movement and rhythm, which she tries to capture in her paintings so that they pulse with life. It is very important to her to convey the impressions that accompany a given moment-often this transience is what is most beautiful. Since she is an impressionistic soul, photo-realism is far from her, and what counts most for her is suggestiveness, freedom and spontaneity of expression.
