Biography
A graduate of the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, Faculty of Painting and Sculpture. She completed her degree in Painting in the studio of Professor Aleksander Dymitrowicz and in Multimedia under the supervision of Professor Wojciech Pukocz. She is a member of the artistic collective Grupa Ukryta, with which she has participated in numerous group exhibitions, including: “Kontrasty” at Browar Mieszczański, Wrocław, and “Teraz MY 17” at Galeria 33, Ostrów Wielkopolski. Even before defending her master’s thesis in March 2019, she took part in the painting competition “Postawy 6,” organized by the Wrocław Academy, in which participants are nominated by professors and serve as representatives of their studios, their programs, and their principles as some of the most promising emerging artists. In her paintings, she uses simplified geometric forms, emphasizing the role of color and composition in the process of depicting reality through the artist’s eyes and in her attempts to capture the moment through the prism of the emotions associated with it. In her work, she is guided by the motto: “I seek artistic meaning in everyday life. Any place is sufficient to serve as inspiration for a depiction on canvas.” In the presented painting, we observe a rigorously planned, symmetrical composition executed with architectural precision. Dorota Zuber’s paintings are inspired by the architectural landscape of cities. However, the arrangement of shapes remains purely abstract. A contoured, sharply drawn grid of lines defines the urban landscape, while the red accents—contrasting with the rest of the composition—draw the viewer’s attention to the center of the painting, inviting them into its interior.
