August II the Strong, Coronation Bicentennial 1697, Dresden
On September 15, 1697 Frederick I Augustus was crowned King of Poland at Wawel Cathedral. Commemorative numismatic coins were minted for the occasion and distributed to the coronation participants.

Crown. Under the crown the coronation insignia scepter and sword entwined with a ribbon. At the top, the inscription REGET ET - DEFENDET (By the will of God (king) and protector). Below the inscription in six lines: D G / AUGUSTUS II / CORON IN REG / POLON & M D L / D 15 SEPT/ A 1697

Surface scratches (visible in photos). A beautifully struck and preserved piece for this type. Beautiful detail. Intense luster and mint mirror. In this state of preservation, the coin is rare and difficult to find on the collector market.
