Provincial issue of the pentassarion denomination struck at Marcianopolis in Moesia Inferior under the authority of Furius Pontianus (legatus consularis) belongs to a compact series produced during the joint reign of Macrinus and Diadumenian, when civic coinage served as a direct medium of political and dynastic communication.
The obverse presents confronted busts of both rulers (vis-à-vis), with the legend AY K OΠEΛ CEY MAKPEINOC K M OΠEΛ ANTΩNEINOC, forming a clear visual expression of co-rule and continuity of power.
The reverse depicts Homonoia seated left, holding a patera and a cornucopia, with the legend YΠ ΠONTIANOY MAPKIANOΠΟΛΙΤΩΝ and the letter E in the field, indicating the pentassarion denomination. The seated representation belongs to a less common variant of Homonoia types at Marcianopolis and reflects the local diversity within this iconographic theme.
