John II Casimir, Szóstak 1661 GBA, Lviv – small “A” in ARGEN – a rarer and beautiful example
Type VI (Ciura) bust.
The Ślepowron coat of arms (of Jan Kazimierz Krasiński—Grand Treasurer of the Crown) is divided by a circular inscription on the obverse.
On the reverse, flanking the shield bearing the Snopek coat of arms (the coat of arms of the Vasa family), are the letters G B – A (the initials of Giovanni Battista Ammureti—the leaseholder of the Lviv Mint).
A variant with simple coat-of-arms shields.
An oval-shaped cartouche bearing the Vasa coat of arms.
A variant with inscriptions: the king’s title IOAN CASI … POL ET SVE in the rim on the obverse and … ARGEN SEX REG POL … in the rim on the reverse.
The letter A in … ARGEN … is smaller—a rare variant.

Minor minting imperfections, but for this type, the coin is beautifully struck and well-preserved. Vivid relief. Beautiful detail. Luster and plenty of mint shine. A rarer variety with a smaller letter A in ARGEN. In this condition, the coin is rare and difficult to find on the collectors’ market. A beautiful piece for discerning collectors.
