The first issue of the new type of Stanisław August złoty coins.
This type is distinguished by a new design of the coat-of-arms shield (simple, without a surrounding wreath) and the date placed on either side of it. This change was related to a change in the minting standard, as can be seen in the rim. Instead of the inscription “LXXX pieces from the Cologne mark,” the coins were now struck at 83 1/2 pieces per mark.
