A very rare item, likely never described before.
A six-kreutzer coin of Sylvester Frederick, struck using the traditional die-striking method instead of the typical roller-striking method.
The coin lacks the characteristic features of die-striking (convexity of the disc, die lines in the background, etc.), and at the same time, parts of the inscriptions on only one side of the coin are doubled, which is impossible with the roller-striking technique. The coin’s axis is also atypical for a roller-stamping machine (rotated approximately 45 degrees to the left).
This is the first year of issue for the coins of the Prince of Oleśnica. In Polish numismatics, there are known instances where, prior to the start of production using a roller mill—which requires the creation of a set of dies—mint offices struck issues using the traditional method, allowing them to verify, among other things, the design.
The lettering and design dies, as well as the layout, are consistent with the roll-struck issues.
Beautiful surface luster, a slight scratch on the neck (due to a flaw in the metal sheet). A mint specimen, with only slight minting imperfections.
