Fryderyk Antoni Hayder (Przemyśl 25 IV 1905 - Gliwice 1994) painter, graphic artist; studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow from 1925 to 1933 - painting in the studio of Jozef Mehoffer, sculpture under Xawery Dunikowski, receiving his diploma with honors. From 1935 he settled in Warsaw. In addition to painting, he was involved in applied graphics and interior design. Before the war, he took part in exhibitions at, among others, the Zachęta Gallery (1937) and the TPSP in Cracow (1938). During the Warsaw Uprising, most of his works were destroyed. In 1945, the artist settled in Gliwice and donated his rescued drawings and sketchbooks from 1926-1944 to the Gliwice Museum, where he worked as a curator after the war. He co-founded the Gliwice Branch of ZPAP, and participated in many national exhibitions (Exhibition of the Arts of the Nadodrzańskie Lands, W-wa 1959; Painting in the 15th Anniversary of the Polish People's Republic, W-wa 1961). He had a number of solo exhibitions. Among others, 1957 CBWA Katowice, Szczecin; in 1984 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of his creative work at the Regional Museum in Przemyśl; 1985 BWA Katowice, 1987 Zachęta Warsaw. He painted figural compositions, landscapes, genre scenes and still lifes. After the war, he took up ideologically committed subjects, and from the mid-1950s he paid more attention to the formal side, painting in the post-cubist convention. He built up his paintings using a linear grid of thick contours, balanced color, rarely of intense intensity was laid flat. In the early 1960s, he painted a series of Informel-like abstractions, where the structure of the painting was softened, to return in the 1970s to the contour marking the arrangement of forms and space. He strived for synthesis, painted with large planes and simplified drawing. He took up religious themes, the "Way of the Cross" series is in the National Museum of the Przemysl Region in Przemyśl, his works are in the collections of the Upper Silesian Museum in Bytom and the Museum in Gliwice, among others.
