Lech Jakubiak (Krosniewice 1932 - 2019) - Polish painter and architect. At the age of two he moved to Warsaw with his parents. During World War II he was a soldier in the Grey Ranks and the Home Army and a participant in the Warsaw Uprising. In 1958 he graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the Gdansk University of Technology. He worked in the profession until 1964, receiving, among other things, an award from the Ministry of Construction for his participation in the design of the Maize Purification and Calibration Plant in Kobierzyce. He then devoted himself to painting, creating mainly oil paintings. He became a member of the Association of Polish Artists. His works were exhibited in numerous exhibitions at home and abroad, including the Cassel Gallery in London (1964) and the International Painting Plein Air in Reichenau, Austria, 1968. He was also a member of the Gray Ranks Association. In the 1960s, while working in a design office, he came into contact with Joanna Chmielewska. As a result of this acquaintance, he became the prototype of the character Lesio Kubajek - the main character of the novel Lesio, published in 1973. Lech Jakubiak revealed his identity with the character only in 2002, during one of his exhibitions.
