Leszek STAÑKO (1924-2010)
Painter, son of Michał Stanko, associated with the artistic circles of Silesia and Zakopane. Educated at the Cracow Academy of Fine Arts under W. Weiss, I. Pieńkowski and F. Pautsch (1945-1947). He worked at the Bielsko Drawing Film Studio and the Drawing Film Studio in Warsaw, and from 1956 was a member of the Warsaw group of artists-artists "Zachęta". Best known for his landscapes of the Tatra Mountains, he also painted motifs from the Silesian Beskid and the Krakow-Czestochowa Jurassic Highlands, and less frequently took up genre, portrait or nude subjects.
