Literature
"Poland, in 2025, for the sixth time in a row, ranks last out of 47 European countries in terms of accessibility to contraception and is one of two European Union countries where so-called emergency contraception, is available only by prescription. At the same time, we are one of the countries with the most restrictive abortion laws - it is currently permitted to terminate a pregnancy only in cases of rape, incest, danger to the life or health of the pregnant person.
Michalina Wisłocka was not only a doctor and sex educator, but also co-founder of the Conscious Motherhood Society - she had a progressive approach to women's reproductive rights. She fought for broad access to contraception and knew that women should have the right to decide about their bodies. During the communist era, abortion was legal and available, and Wislocka was aware of the huge impact it had on women's health and lives."
