On the back author's description: RADEK SZLĘZAK / "ERROR IN ART VII" / 2016.
Painter, author of video works, objects and installations. In his work he uses motifs and images borrowed from various cultural phenomena. Inspiration for his works can be equally drawn from illustrations taken from medical and scientific textbooks, as well as from the science-fiction iconosphere. It is not uncommon for him to juxtapose artistic practice with theory. His work seeks to analyze the relationship between various cognitive disciplines, such as anthropology and art theory. An equally important thread running through his work is the question of how images and visual messages function in contemporary times. He studied from 2010 to 2015 at the Faculty of Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. He defended his diploma in 2015 in the studio of Prof. Andrzej Bednarczyk. He is currently a third-year student of the Environmental Doctoral Studies at the aforementioned university. Awarded a statutory distinction at the 43rd Bielska Jesień Biennale 2017, finalist of the 12th Geppert Competition. Scholarship recipient of the Sapere Auso Scholarship Foundation of Malopolska. He has participated in numerous exhibitions at home and abroad, among the most notable were: the solo exhibition The Uncanny Valley at the Szara Kamienica Gallery in Krakow in 2017; the group exhibition XY: New Generation Polish-Hungarian Painting at MODEM in Debrecen, Hungary, the group exhibition No Problem at Potencja gallery in Krakow, the group exhibition Imaginary Landscape II, Museum of Modern Art (MOCA), Taipei, Taiwan.
