Ryszard Rabsztyn - Graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw, at the Faculty of Painting and Sculpture. Winner of the First International Woodcut Triennial in Zakopane.
After an initial period of creativity associated with drawing and printmaking, he fully devoted himself to painting. His works, most often maintained in black and white, can be divided into two larger series: female portraits and broadly prehistoric inspirations. The artist uses the already characteristic technique of puentilism, which in itself implies meticulous and careful work.
Currently in his works he focuses on hieroglyphic writing and Braille. She creates using dots and dashes put on the canvas, however, each dot has a specific meaning. The artist tries to "write down" her paintings more than paint, so that blind people can read them freely. The author himself says of his work: "I wanted each painting to be attractive - also for sighted people. The idea kept evolving and I decided to create something like a riddle - a message encoded in Braille that the viewer would be forced to decipher like ancient hieroglyphics."
