Stanisław GIBIŃSKI (1882-1971)
In 1908 he began his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow under the direction of Julian Fałat. During World War I he served in the Polish Legions. In his work he used both oil paints and watercolor. He most often painted landscapes - especially winter landscapes - as well as genre scenes and still lifes. He regularly presented his works at exhibitions of the Society of Friends of Fine Arts. He was a master of mood, able to convey the atmosphere of the scenes he depicted with great sensitivity. He was particularly appreciated for his excellent mastery of the watercolor technique. Until the end of his artistic career, he remained under the clear influence of his outstanding teacher, Julian Fałat.
