Wladyslaw POPIELARCZYK (1925-1987).
Originally from Kociewie, became associated with Warsaw. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts (diploma from E. Kokoszko, 1955), having begun his artistic studies in the Tri-City area. Eccentric and colorful personality of the Warsaw bohemia. He practiced easel and wall painting (more than 25 projects for the decoration of public buildings: frescoes, mosaics, reliefs, stained glass). In the 1960s he exhibited on the walls of the Barbican and opened a gallery on Piwna Street. He crowned his exhibitions with peculiar happenings involving the public in joint singing accompanied by guitar and dancing-dressing. He had more than 40 solo and group exhibitions in Poland and abroad. Posthumously awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta.
