Studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. He received his diploma in the studio of Prof. Adam Brincken (2002). Received a scholarship from the Ministry of Culture and Art (1997). Co-founder and curator of exhibitions at Cellar Gallery in Cracow (2006-2016). He has organized more than a dozen solo exhibitions and participated in dozens of group presentations including: Zderzak Gallery in Krakow, Otwarta Pracownia in Krakow, Stalowa Gallery (Warsaw), Krakauer Haus (Nuremberg), BWA (Bielsko-Biala), WTC Art Gallery (Rotterdam), Art Fabrik Gallery (Wuppertal), BWA (Lublin) Galeria Letnia (Kazimierz Dolny), Galeria nad Wisłą (Torun), Polish Cultural Institute (London). This year he also participated in the Suitcase / Showcase project in Boston.

"(...) The softened geometric focus, and next to it circularity and softness, make the images like the bodies depicted in them - incomplete, mysterious, but strongly felt. The same is true of the objects. Frozen, immobilized, they are plucked from the relentless movement of the world. Kmiec moves between touch and premonition. Bodies - sensual, naked, mysterious - lead toward a boundary. This boundary is their collision with an abstract figure, an unreal object, collapsing into space. The story that is born from this contact is a story without beginning and end, it is a constant search for the relationship between what can be touched, felt under the fingers, tasted, and what escapes the skin and gaze.
Sensuality, premonition, time - it is difficult to grasp their meeting, although some succeed. Ziemowit Kmieć transports viewers to a world that is unusual, ephemeral but strongly felt. The works captivate with their subtlety and power of expression."
