Abraham Weinbaum (Wejnbaum, Wenbaum) - Polish painter of Jewish origin. The son of a textile entrepreneur, he spent his childhood in Lodz. Initially, he studied painting in Odesa. However, he soon moved to Cracow, where he studied under Jozef Unierzyski, Wojciech Weiss and Jozef Pankiewicz at the Academy of Fine Arts from 1906 to 1914. Encouraged by Pankiewicz, around 1914 he went to Paris, where he was associated with the circle of artists from La Ruche in Montparnasse. He participated in exhibitions, including the Salon des Indépendants (1920-1921, 1923-1924 and 1937). He also exhibited in Belgium. During World War II he served in the French army, then from 1940 he stayed with his family in Marseille. Arrested in 1943, he was a prisoner in the camps of Compiegne and Drancy, from where he was taken to the Sobibor concentration camp (later to Auschwitz?). He painted mainly portraits and Jewish types, as well as landscapes, interiors and flowers. He was involved in book illustration.
