Lot description
Detailed carved statue of Christ, originally intended to be attached to a cross. The statue stands out for its realistic rendering of the body anatomy, elaborate facial details and the carefully carved drapery of the loincloth. Similar sacral sculptures were produced in Central Europe in the 19th century and served as part of liturgical and domestic devotionals.
