Seal piston of Daisy, Duchess of Pszczyna, Countess of Hochberg

Gold, heliotrope; height 3.1 cm; stamp area 1.8 x 1.4 cm.
Silesia, 19th / 20th century.
In the square seal field - a pair of coats of arms in heraldic arrangement: on the left the coat of arms of the Hochberg family, on the right the coat of arms of the Cornwallis-West family; above them the duke's mitre. Richly decorated with floral motifs, the gold setting, with a ring earring for hanging the pendant.
The pendant belonged to one of the most famous Silesian aristocrats, Maria Theresa Duchess von Pless (Pszczyna), Countess Hochberg (1873-1943), wife of Hans Heinrich XV. She was the aunt of Winston Churchill. After her marriage, she lived at Książ Castle and in Pszczyna.
Filip Bajon made a film about the duchess entitled. "Magnate" (1986) and the TV series "The White Business Card."
