Biography
The artist’s biography prior to World War II remains unknown. According to sources, he took part in the fighting and was taken prisoner. After his liberation from a POW camp, he went to Paris, where he established his career as a painter. It was most likely on the banks of the Seine that he began his training in the visual arts. He was featured in the Paris Salons as early as the 1950s. His works also gained popularity in places such as London and New York. He primarily focused on portraiture, and among his favorite subjects were atmospheric and sensitive depictions of women, girls, and ballerinas, usually captured while dressing or preparing for a performance on stage, rendered in a pastel color palette.
