This map represents a pinnacle of pre-geodetic Italian cartography. Magini compiled his “Italia” based on direct surveys and documentary sources that were advanced for the time.
Titles: It features two splendid Baroque title blocks: the title block in the upper left and the dedication block in the lower right, both richly decorated with volutes and masks.
Geographical Detail: It covers the area stretching from the border with the Papal States to Abruzzo Citeriore, with an extremely dense list of place names documenting the villages and castles of the era.
