Biography
Eugeniusz Zegadło comes from an artistic family in which sculpting is cultivated generationally. Initially, young Eugeniusz helped his father, Adam, to make wooden toys. However, by the 1960s, Zegadlo, inspired by his parent's work, began carving on his own. Over the course of his independent work, Eugeniusz Zegadło developed his own artistic language. His works mainly refer to biblical themes, which he tackles with his own expressiveness.
Zegadło's work enjoys great popularity and recognition - the artist cooperates with Polish and foreign galleries, and is highly regarded in Germany and France, where he most often works. Eugeniusz Zegadło is also involved in popularizing knowledge of naive art. Since 2008 he has held the position of artistic director of the Katowice Art Naif Festival.
