Biography
Jaroslaw Rodak took his first steps in pottery in 1971, learning to turn on a potter's wheel. His interest in folk pottery emerged when he married the daughter of Krystyna Moldawa, a well-known ceramic sculptor, and settled in Rędocin. He gained knowledge of pottery making in the studio of Wladyslaw Misiowiec, from whom he learned to turn traditional vessels. The compatriot is involved in both pottery and figural sculpture in ceramics. He decorates his vessels with engraved or pasted ornaments, and their surface is covered with a dark green or dark brown glaze. His products, both in form and ornamentation, are reminiscent of traditional pottery from Ilza. Ceramic sculpture became his passion under the influence of his mother-in-law, Krystyna Moldawa. He creates mainly such as figures of the Sorrowful Christ, Pietas and shrines. His works can be found in museums in Poland, including Warsaw, Torun, Lublin, Kielce, Plock and Krakow, as well as in private collections at home and abroad.
