Sculpture, 30 x 25 x 4.5 cm, lacquered larch wood, lacquered and painted spruce wood pedestal.
The sculpture is inspired by the word Stillness, often used by Joan Miró, whose work continually inspires the artist. Stillness. A certain activity frozen in time. This Stillness, primordial, intact can be found in nature, in the forms of rocks or cliffs, which are stuck in stillness, even for millions of years. These shapes have a powerful but silent force in their structure and construction, filling the viewer with a sense of power and security. Philosophically, Berbeka's works remind us of the importance of finding a place within ourselves that is full of balance and peace.
Magdalena Berbeka is a native of Zakopane. There she graduated from the Antoni Kenar High School of Fine Arts. She earned her bachelor's degree at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in 2017, in the sculpture department, in the studio of Antoni Janusz Pastwa. She is currently pursuing her master's degree at the Department of Photography and Multimedia at the Władysław Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź.
